Monotonix puts on quite a show. Last night I saw them for the second time at The Spanish Moon. The opening act was one of the worst bands I'd ever seen though. It was a duo, a drummer and a guitar player/vocalist. They basically just played 90 second "songs" that involved lots of screaming. It was not very musical even for thrasher punk. But, Monotonix rocked the place. They do not play on the stage, they play around the bar . . . dragging the drum kit along with them as they roam through the place with super long mic and guitar cords. The band started off the set right in front of the stage (see below), and moved around the room for a while, and then went outside and all the way down the street (see below). Then they came back inside and went upstairs to play the finale. If you like loud rock'n roll, then you'll like Monotonix. But, if you do not like lead singers throwing beer all over the place as he makes his way through the crowd during the set, then you might want to wear a rain jacket.
